12 months on

September 27, 2014

I’ve just been looking back at the post I published almost exactly 12 months ago.  A whole lifetime ago.  Mrs D and I had been on holiday in Marrakech, on what would turn out to be our last holiday alone for the foreseeable future.  If I close my eyes I can still see the view from my bed in our room at Riad Cocoon, writing on my laptop with Dream 2 Science’s My Love Turns To Liquid in the background…

12 months on, we’re in a foreign country again – this time Spain, staying for a week at Mrs D’s parents holiday apartment on the Atlantic coast near Huelva.  Again, I’m sat in bed writing, but everything else is different.  It’s another world we live in now.  In Marrakech, the only sound I heard was the classic house coming from the speaker dock.  Now, the sound comes from every direction.  Mrs D is downstairs making coffee, Atomic is echoing tinnily around the kitchen, cars are passing in the street outside, a fan is whirring above me, the keys are clicking on my laptop.  And my baby boy, asleep next to me, is sighing, sniffing, breathing, being.  Another world.

So, it’s been quite a while since I last posted anything on the blog itself – I’ve been reposting links and things on the Facebook page but there’s been precious little time to sit down and write for months. (The Girl from Ipanema’s playing downstairs now – magic)  Little Walter’s nearly 2 months old now and his enthusiasm for all things new is infectious, so it won’t be long before I’ll be back on it I’m sure.  Thanks for sticking around, Hasta Luego

Ben, Becky and Walter

    • Hi Shedrick – I don’t hold an email list. I can only assume you clicked to “follow” the blog. Is there a link in the email that allows you to unfollow or to stop receiving emails? I’m genuinely sorry you don’t feel your role has been given the attention it deserves – the interview with Ace was updated to include you at the time, but if you would like to share more I’ll happily include it here
